More Information about Kenya eTA
The Kenya Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) is a digital travel permit introduced in January 2024, replacing the previous eVisa system. This new system allows travelers from all countries to enter Kenya without needing a traditional visa, streamlining the entry process while maintaining essential security checks.
The eTA is linked electronically to your passport and must be presented at all departure and arrival points in Kenya. It is valid for various purposes, including tourism, business, medical visits, and transit, and permits a single entry with a stay of up to 90 days.
To apply for the Kenya eTA, travelers need a valid passport with at least six months of validity and one blank page, a recent passport-type photo or selfie, contact information, travel itinerary details, proof of accommodation bookings, and a payment method. Depending on the purpose of the visit, additional documents may be required. For instance, business travelers need an invitation letter from the Kenyan company and a copy of the company’s registration, while those visiting for medical reasons need an appointment letter from the referring doctor or hospital.
The application process is conducted entirely online through the official eTA website. Applicants complete the online form, upload the necessary documents, provide required details, and pay the application fee of $99. The typical processing time for the eTA is up to three working days, but applicants are advised to apply at least three days (and up to three months) before their travel to account for any potential delays.
The eTA simplifies the entry process, reducing the need for paper-based visa applications and providing a more efficient and accessible system for all international travelers, including infants and children.
