How long does it take for an eTA to be processed?
eTA applications are usually processed within 3 days. However, in some cases, it may take longer.
Does the eTA allow for multiple entries to Kenya?
Your eTA is valid for a single entry into Kenya.
Is Kenya now visa-free?
In theory no. The eVisa have been “replaced” by the Kenya eTA. Now all nationalities may travel to Kenya, but you are still required to obtain an approved eTA before travelling.
How far ahead of my travel should I apply for an eTA?
Submissions for the eTA can be made up to 90 days prior to travel. Applications are usually processed within 3 days, but in some cases, it may take longer. It is recommended to apply for your eTA 2 weeks prior to travel.
Do I need to apply for an eVISA if I have an eTA?
No, if you have a valid eTA, you are not required to have an eVISA. eTA have replaced the old eVISA.
Do I need to apply for an eTA if I am crossing a land border?
Yes, an eTA is required for all visitors arriving in Kenya by road, air or ship.
My eTA has been approved, what do I do now?
Once your eTA has been approved, you will need to show the approval QR code when requested by an airport or immigration official during your trip.
What is the permitted duration of stay in Kenya with an eTA?
A valid eTA allows you to travel to Kenya within 90 days of issue. However, it does not guarantee entry into Kenya. Immigration officials at the port of entry have the final authority to permit or deny admission and determine the length of stay in Kenya, based on your purpose of travel.
What is the Kenya Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA)?
The Kenya eTA is a semi-automated system used to determine the eligibility of visitors to travel to Kenya. Authorized by the Government of the Republic of Kenya, an eTA grants permission to travel but does not guarantee entry into the country. Admissibility is determined by immigration officers upon arrival.
What information is required in the application process?
Biographic details, eligibility questions, valid passport, recent photo (selfie or passport-style), contact information, travel itinerary, accommodation proof, and payment details.
When should I apply for my Kenya eTA?
An Kenya eTA is typically approved within 3 days; however, it is recommended to apply 2 weeks before travel. Applications can be submitted up to 3 months in advance.
Do I need to have accommodation ready before applying?
All travelers must have valid accommodation. If staying with friends or family, a letter of invitation is required.
Do my child or infant also need an eTA?
All foreign visitors, including children, must have an eTA. Applications for minors must be completed by a guardian or parent.
Is my payment information secured?
The system is PCI compliant, encrypting all data transmissions without storing credit card information.

Do I need any vaccinations?
No current vaccination requirements for entry.

How much does an eTA cost?
The single-entry eTA fee is 99 USD per traveler.
Travel with East Africa Tourist Visa:
Travelers with a valid East Africa Tourist Visa do not need to complete an eTA.
